My parents were actively working and trying to am dismantle a partete, so much so that they belonged to organizations that would end up getting banned by the government. And in their way as well, according to the limitations of the time and place, it sounds like they were also anti racist. I had been reading the beat poets and psychology books that were on my parents bookshelves since i was a young teen ager. So for me, the idea of sonal growth and self discovery and the recognition that one does not fully know oneself is very normal.
