Facial recognition is an additional factor on top of that username password. How much friction does this add to the entire process of being authenticated? It's a matter of a second or two, but again, it can happen with a computer camera. Are we getting close to a place where someone can do multi-factor authentication while still never requiring someone to type in a password? Oh, I would say that's absolutely true.
