The Role of Land Use Patterns in Tropical Forests
Tropical forests are teeming with life, right, with plants and animals and viruses. And as the human population grows and grows richer, we want more and more from the forests. So in we go, and this creates more contact with the animals that might be carrying crazy viruses - therefore more chance to pick up these viruses and spread them around. There are examples wherever we look, and the greatest number of examples being in those most biodiverse places in the tropics because of human activities.
