The American Classic in the Seventies
This vision of domestic life was aspirational when the movie was made in 19 forty six. The studio that capra created, called liberty films, that made the movie, it failed. None of capra's movies from then on were successful. In effect, his career was already over. And they sold the rights to the movies cheap to another s o that basically just put them on the shelf and did nothing with them. It only reached a new audience and became a sort of american classic in the seventies.
