The Politics of Rural Living in Britain

Before urbanization, before mass urbanization from the 18th century onwards, it's not an issue for most people getting into the countryside. And then as urbanization takes hold, I think sort of across the different social classes to some extent, it becomes a desirable thing to be able to get out of the city,. especially in the summer. The right to Rome is a working class demand going back to the 1930s but it partly comes out of its whole idea of camping, walking, hiking.
