The Numbers of Pedestrian Fatalities in the United States
Only about 25% of the time is a driver's failure to yield the official cause of a pedestrian fatality. Of the pedestrians killed in fatal crashes, 37% had been drinking with blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or higher. If you look at pedestrian fatalities among 25 to 34-year-olds, the drunk walking number rises to 50%. Coming up on Freakonomics Radio, we'll try to answer that question.
