The Failure of the Interstate Highway 30 Bridge

The state of West Virginia bought the bridge from the private company in 1941. There was a microscopic fracture in it when it was built in 1928. So during rush hour, December 15th, 1967, this I-Bar failed,. Right along where you see these cracks here. They didn't get high enough strength steel. Should have got like higher strength or like double high strength.
