Is There a Connection Between Psychology and Research?
I think the interesting thing here is that we also have to be aware that psychologists do the kind of psychological work that gets published. So I did some work with some really top-line psychologists involving trying to work in schools with children learning from errors. And one of the psychologists in this project said she hated it. She couldn't wait to get back to her laboratory because she couldn't control any of the variables. The knowledge we have about what works in that crude sense is driven by what research got done. A lot of research didn't get done because it was too difficult. My favorite example of that is feedback research. Almost all our findings on feedback are related to laboratory studies done by psychology
