The New Real: A History of Mimesis

The book describes two modes of mimesis that have existed as definitions of the term since at least it's ancient Greek origins and still carry out significant weight in the humanities. The new real is kind of pushes towards hyper mediation or hyper mediation. And we can best see this I argue in moments of hyper mediation where medium kind of mediates itself. Those sorts of moments really kind of help us see this tension in process it all because it refers back to our own consumption moment, and how it kind of gives a theory of how we ourselves are consuming the very thing that we're reading.
