How to Provide Someone You Don't Trust
No parenting is perfect and you have to have imperfection. Joanne probably doesn't know how secure her attachment was in the first 18 months like a lot of us. We learn from those experiences which were non-ideal that's how we develop resilience. It depends on early experiences but it also importantly depends on other aspects of the relationship. The person who has had the affair has to listen to the person who has suffered the transgression in order to make that kind of recovery.
