The Knowledge Gap
There's just too much information out there for any human to assimilate in papers. The most highly cited paper i will ever write had than opening sentence of you. Take some perspective on the development of thinking in your fieldd, and what do when i don't really know the history of my field very well? I think one of the biggest problems with training scientists now is we don't often give them or push them to read some older literature. And environmental science isn't completely revolutionized every five years. But having some perspective on how that happened has been a lot valuable.
