The Myth of the Mahayana Sutras
In the next couple of weeks I'm going to be introducing, as Pranemati said, the cosmic mythic vision of the Mahayana sutras. In week four I'll come back a bit to like what's this got to do with us a bit more directly. And yeah these sutras are amazing works of the spiritual imagination. A sutra is the name for a Buddhist discourse. It literally means thread in Pali which the early texts are in its sutra. So it's like sutra, the medical term for a stitch. Stitches things together and gives you a threaded discourse on a topic.
