Before late 19 seventies, women who needed an abortion prior to 12 weeks of pregnancy generally received either a danc or a vacuum aspiration abortion. saline abortions could be brutal, both physically and emotionally. The process started with a doctor injecting a saline solution into a woman's uterus,. The solution poisoned the fetus, ending the pregnancy.
