The American Express Credit Card Business Has a Strong Franchise in Certain Areas
Henry Wells and William Fargo would chain themselves to the Express boxes as they delivered them through to the west. The credit card business with American Express arose out of fear of what particularly Diners Club at the time, he says. "It has certain very important advantages and and economic strengths and it has some weaknesses"
