The Running Away Story
Residents of Flour de Lee and surrounding areas searched for Sam around the nearby harbour, the shoreline, residential streets and vacant buildings. A police sniffer dog was brought in, but it couldn't detect a scent. Some residents would callously suggest that 13-year-old Sam must have died by suicide or she'd staged her own abduction. Others insisted that someone must have abducted her against her will, or perhaps she ran away and didn't want to be found. The alternatives were just too horrifying to think about.
