Is There a Taylor Rule for the Eurozone Area?
Did the early U.S. meet the criteria of an optimal currency area? The South was a different region. It was dependent on the staple crops and was subject to a different set of shocks than, let's say, the New England or even the Middle West. So in principle, if it could have conceived of it, a different currency probably would have worked smoothly.
