German state elections and the rise of the far-right
This chapter discusses the recent displeasure of German voters towards Chancellor Olaf Scholdst's three-party coalition in the states of Bavaria and Hesse. The center-right Christian Democrats and Christian Social Union maintained their dominance in both states, while the far-right alternative for Germany party also made significant gains. The frustration of voters was attributed to the country's immigration policies and the strain it has placed on public services and housing availability. The chapter also includes an interview with a political correspondent discussing the message German voters were sending to Berlin.
