The Power of Reading

Writers read differently from common readers. Woolf would say that when you read, you shouldn't dictate to the author. Don't come with your notions already made up, your mind made up. You need to understand what they're saying. The reading continues even once you've put the book down. And so you enter this psychic conversation of sorts and an extension of this for many is ultimately then turning to the blank page yourself.
