Introduction

The earliest credible evidence for human habitation in japan dates from around a hundred and 30 thousand years ago. The first culture for which we have a name is the jomon culture, which dates from 13 thousand b c to 300 b c. One of the major features of yayoi culture is agriculture, especially rice agriculture. This appears to have been introduced by imigrants from korea who first started arriving in the southern island of kushu around 500 b c.
