40 years ago, a grand experiment was embarked upon that promised us workers using these new defined contribution vehicles, you'll be off when you reach retirement age. Well, the results of that forty year experiment are now in, and it's been a pretty dismal failure,. Many will never be able to eford retire at all. The lower and middle classes have been getting increasingly squeezed as real wages decline while real costs rise. There's just been less and less left over for regular folks to vest toward retirement. And with consumer price inflation now raging at an official rate of eight point six %, while the economy slows further into what now appears to be an inevitable recession, the goal line is moving farther
