The second edition was published 35 years later, and the introduction is absolutely worth a read to anybody who hasn't read the second edition. In it, martin simon appear to have meddled somewhat and are more philosophical about their contribution to organization studies. They acknowledge that the main change from the original book, of course, is the social context from the late 19 fifties.
