Using Pointers in Programming Languages
In javiscript, where there's no pointers and no access to raw, continuous memory, you'd have to start at zero. The short form way to communicate this is to say that the the index is nt offset. And so people who worke in languages with pointers, it's obvious to them why this is the case because they understand how memory works. But like we've all just kind of got stockholm sindrum, not realizing that that's not natural to somebody who doesn't understand pointer work.
