The Importance of Friendship in Modern Life

I think what could help friendship is if it had ritual and marriage has a lot of ritual. And like marriage also has fundamentally commitment at its heart because the way that you go from not being married to married is you make a vow. You know, if you like it, then you better put a ring on it. And like, we don't really have that in the world of friendship. And I think it creates a lot of ambiguity and also a lot of pain as sort of relationship friendship relationships might go up or down. But without necessarily this sense of what you owe the friend or our own by the friend in in contradiction, let's say, to a more formalized relationship like marriage
