The Effects of Rapid Assassination on Termite Families

Anspach: As termite families grow and expand under bark, they will meet their neighbors. He says the parents are killed in a rapid assassination of kings and queens within 24 hours. The offspring workers from each family then molt because they are incomplete metamorphosis. Anspach: They molt into replacement reproductive and therefore they inherit the colony and the nest site.
