Jeff McGinnis' Fatal Vision
After his second murder trial and conviction, Joe McGinnis' book Fatal Vision was released. Jeff felt betrayed and sued the author for obtaining the story under false pretenses. He won $325,000 in that lawsuit, but made hundreds of thousands of dollars in the Made for TV miniseries of Fatal Vision That aired the next year in 1984. The miniseries was the network's highest rated non-sports show of the year with an estimated 60 million Americans watching it.
