The Casimir Effect

The Casimir effect appears between two plates that are very, very close together. This is because we're actually interacting with and probing the vacuum energy of space. It suppresses some kinds of wiggles and allows others. And so because it's suppressing some kinds ofwiggles, it like lowers the energy between these two sheets,. Which creates an energy differential, which is what creates a force.
