The Substitutionary Atonement Is What It Means

The substitutionary atonement is what it's called. It means Jesus went to the cross to pay the penalty for our sin as a substitute for us. And so a result of that great gift is that the Lord God in heaven no longer condemns us for our sin. Instead, he condemned Jesus on the cross. That's why Jesus died. He was bearing the condemnation that was levied at all of us who have placed our faith in Him. By bearing it, he took it away from us. So there is now no condemnation for me because I am in Christ Jesus.
