Is Regulation the Largest Barrier to Income Growth?
Within Canada by looking within Canada data we can actually look at the other components of the accounting freedom index, notably regulations. And what we find is actually that when you look at the income mobility of people in the bottom 10% regulation is the largest deterrent to income mobility. If you remove regulation you find faster absolutely income growth rises in relative statuses and greater proportion of people within a five year window who actually see income gains. It will matter to our conversation because on reservations, the indigenous peoples in Canada are those who are near to the bottom of the income distribution so they're the ones whose income mobility should be concerned most about.
