The Importance of Being Down on Your Luck

I tried to make a chocolate brownie last week and it was disgusting I just tasted a little bit and it was absolutely horrible so I threw it away. If you say exactly what somebody else was thinking you could say to the person you took the words right out of my mouth. Or imagine I was thinking of giving my my girlfriend a present for a birthday I wanted to surprise her but then she said she never wears jewelry. Now what? Back to the drawing board obviously that idea is no good I'll have to think of something else. To be down on your luck is just to be in a very bad situation.
