Carranza's Repression

Nearly everyone in the constitutionalist leadership, civilian and soldier alike, took the opportunity to skim, plunder, profit, and extort from anything that was under their control. These were heady days for spies and informants who could make a little cash for ranting out on their neighbors. This too was a source of persistent unpopularity, but dictators wouldn't repress their people if it didn't often work. Now this is going to have long term repercussions for Carranza, but in the short term, repression did help Carranza consolidate his hold on power.
