The 1619 project is answering that question every black person gets which is slavery was a long time ago why don't you get over it. Almost nothing in america's older than slavery the english landed james town in 1607 12 years later we've begun african slavery our legal political social cultural artistic medical systems are all built around slavery and the justification of slavery so i wanted this project to be about America right now. We're going to show you all of the surprising ways that slavery is still shaping the society that we live in today.
