Is There a Future for Robots Metatags?

If you wanted to use all robots meta tags on a web siht, you would have to make at least 870 pages. There's just so much overhead with everything around metatags. As soon as we add something new, we kind of have to promise to support it for a reasonable amount of time. And obviously, nothing is forever, so it's not like we can guarantee that things will stick around forever. But it should be kind of self sustaining and valid for a longer period of time.
