It may be that perhaps they have progressed sufficiently technologically and morally to now have a more enlightened attitude towards alien species than you know humans had in their history. it may be that we happen not to be very useful to them but they can very easily and cheaply get a text right off by giving us some amazing technology. The best case outcome is that we all finally have flying brooms or something, the worst case scenario is oh effectively we're colonized in a way in which humans have colonized each other in really terrible ways. I think I'm sort of risk averse on that account I lean strongly in the other direction he says.
