Betsy's worked for years as a photographer, educator and story teller. She thought she'd found the perfect combination when she joined her most recent job. The environment for me was really toxic. And i i think overtime, i was becoming somebody that i didn't like. I felt really defensive all the time. Everything felt like a battle. That led into my life outside of work. Is just, like, either i was exhausted from fighting all day, but i just was like, frustrated.
When Betsy joined her last workplace, she thought it was a perfect fit. It was on a list of Best Places to Work and she got to be creative while helping people. But as the startup rapidly grew, the company culture changed and Betsy started to lose herself amid the stress. Then she got laid off. Honestly, Betsy was relieved, but now she’s gotta figure out what’s next. On this episode of How To!, we bring on James Altucher, author, podcaster, and all-around interesting person. He’s both created successful companies and failed a number of times. He has some funny, frank advice for taking the sting out of rejection, reviving your passions, and making sure your next move is right for you.
