On the fifteenth, marshal nay's men arrived on the outskirts of olme. They stormed the heights outside the city and began preparing artillery positions to bombard the trapped army. The catastrophe which had been slowly building since the beginning of the war had come to pass. Ma was now totally surrounded. His army was disorganized and moral was low. Even now he was still entertaining his delusions that the russians would arrive to save the day or that napoleon would suddenly be forced to withdraw.
