The Importance of Idealism in Programming

The idea that you can just like think about what's wrong with the world and then think about your programmatic fix without engaging in the history of social struggle is not just arrogant or like interpersonally off putting. And it's frustrating for me when I encounter those people and they assume that I should have some kind of like respect for what they're doing based on the fact that they have enough money to do it as a project because it is in line with some very rich person's thinking.
