How Japanese Media Uses Common Parlance
Japanese media has this stylized character archetype to where a good example is the old guy says washi, even though in real life, old men don't actually say washi. That's sort of their way of letting you know that the speaker is an old man. And if we thought about it in English, it would be like the redneck always saying, gosh, darn it. I think I hear rednecks say dang more than dark. But yeah, Japanese has this way more than English. The fan width you have to express yourself in Japanese to express what kind of person you are,. who you hang out with, who you don't hang out with and all that
