Why Is Jacob Doing This?
The last time we read about their relationship between Jacob and Esau was in Genesis 27, verse 41. He thinks that his brother Esau's going to kill him. And then 20 years later, here he is trying to go back to him. So Jim, why is he doing this? Well, in 31, three, the Lord said to Jacob, return to the Landview fathers and to your kindred. And I will be with you. That phrase is going to be repeated all through chapters 32 and 33.Jacob is trying to find favor in Esau's sight. This language favor is a keyword that's going to show up throughout 32 and 33."
