As a proof reader, i learned what copy editing was because proof readers are reading a set of page proofs against a manuscript. I have found that just about every author that i would think of as a good writer is highly receptive to good copying. The adjective good is very important there in the copy of it. Im they they want to make their books better. They want to hear what you have to say. And if your approval rate on changes from an author is something in the vicinity of 85 to 92%, then you've done a good job. That's impressive. Ye, makes sense.
