A strong dollar puts a lot of pressure on the rest of the world. It exports inflation maybe to other countries, and it can cause real problems in emerging markets where they've got government debt in dollars. And if you look at the cost of energy, which is obviously causing a lot of crises at the moment, that's priced in dollars. So when the dollar strengthens, it makes those imports much more expensive. The US central bank does look at kind of second round effects, boomerang effects, they call it. All they care about is what happens to the US economy.
