The Importance of Symbols

If there were many bananas in the tree, I would then be confused as to what they wanted me to bring back. As far as I'm aware, there was only one banana in the tree that you were supposed to be getting. Do you think there's a single other sign in the world that simply says banana? Why would it? There will be many, many that say bananas, bananas for sale. But there's probably only that one. That's the banana. Would have chimped that sign.
