Settling for Someone Implies That We've Short Changed Ourself
Settling for someone implies that we have in some way short changed ourselves. It's about saying, as berkman says, i'm going to do a very, very tiny amount of what is on offer in this life. And my love life is no different. There may be many people with whom i could build a relationship. What imbues this relationship so much meaning is not that this person is the one, but i have chosen to make them the one. That's alchemy, isn't it? I literally take something that didn't exist and i make something beautiful. We value what we invest in. Meaning and fulfilment flows where our investment goes.
