How Did You Get Your Perspective in Your Novel?

The beginning of this novel actually started with an image and I just had the image of three sisters with their arms entwined around each other standing around a fresh grave. So from there that these women had to be strong and fierce because they had something to do with putting whoever was in there into the ground so really it didn't start much plot but it wasn't much plot to start with it really. When you can get a character's perspective that really helps you set up structure and the pacing of how a story unfolds then that's freaking amazing.
