The Multiplicity of Selves
The idea that we can be both one and multiple is a long tradition in the Catholic Church. We wouldn't be able to love ourselves if we were a single homogenous entity with no sort of dynamism or variability inside, he says. The strongest evidence that we have parts or that we have a multiplicity of ourselves comes from our Lord himself when he says, love your neighbor as yourself. That right there pinpoints what I'm passionate about as a Catholic psychologist.
