How Much of Your Position Is in Academia?

I like to give lectures. I like to educate students. What keeps me also in in academia is that I can do research, I applied basic research that I cannot do in industry. In my company, we are very focused to developing our gas fermentation process and in my academic life, I'm having completely different projects. But mostly it's about students. Most days it’s about students. And this is interesting because I have a colleague of mine in Sweden, he's doing the same thing. He never left academia.
