Building A Quantum Computer with Light
Azeem Azhar's Exponential View
Is There Any Parallel in Quantum Computing?
A quantum computer is a device that instead of operating on bits or transistors that are zero or one you have qubits. Qubits can be in this sort of magical superposition of both a zero end-to-one state simultaneously using very loose language here. You could use anything to encode that bit and anything to do that nan gate we happen to use silicon transistors because we can operate those things at billions of times per second. So it's a very analogous situation actually with how we imagine a quantum computer to work.
