The Fed Shouldn't Have Tightened Rates, Should They?
Some of the inflation that we've got is a globally driven inflation. The bank of england could not have done anything about it. A lot of people have actually left the labour market, particularly older people and breggs. It caused some people to go back to continental europe and not come back after covidd. And so these factors, i think, were not fully appreciated until a bit too late. Can he still claim to be a low tax conservative chancelor? Well, i don't dismiss it completely, because he is declaring a sort of long term strategic intent. But clearly an at the moment, he isn't.
