Is the World Too Fragmented to Operate the Way They Always Have?
I think a very difficult reality we're facing is that the world perhaps has become too fragmented and too pluralistic to support any kind of meaningful moral or social consensus. I don't miss the 1950s or 1960s, when you had two television channels and everybody watched the same story. In the 1960s, again, the ideological battles were much bigger than they are today. It's the Soviet Union that collapsed because the Western world has found a way to build not a perfect society, but a more inclusive society.
