The African Abroad by William Ferris

One figure who I think is really central to what you just described, and who's also been central to your own work, is William Ferris. Is a member of the American Negro Academy and writes a book that touches on many of the themes you just mentioned called the African Abroad. And an interesting feature of this book that really struck me when I read it, is that he has a whole kind of theory of history.
