The Gap Between Chat and AI

The end game or like the ultimate goal in AI is AI artificial general intelligence. What's the gap from where you chat, let's say is today, to something that would qualify as an AGI? Boy, I feel somewhat flatter that we start from from you, chat, and then go, but it is still a big step up. One thing that has changed in a lot of people's minds for AGI is that it doesn't have to be physical anymore.
